When a surface is painted, primers do several jobs. Besides improving adhesion, they can build a corrosion-resistant layer, neutralize rust and hide minor surface defects. By the order of application, primers are either primary or secondary. Every job needs the right primer or the right combination of primers, and to choose it you have to know what each of them is for and how it behaves.
Primers are divided into primary and secondary. A primary primer goes directly onto the bare metal as the first coat. A secondary primer is applied over a primary one: it builds a resilient underlayer and fills minor defects, so that the surface is as smooth and uniform as possible before the paint is applied.
Rust converting primer
Primary primer
For use on areas of a metal surface attacked by corrosion. A 2-in-1 product: it converts the rust and leaves a durable film on the metal that is ready to be painted. After application leave it for 24 hours and only then apply the paint system on top.
1K acid etch primer
Primary primer
For treating ferrous metal surfaces, including surfaces attacked by corrosion, and for improving adhesion to aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized steel. An acid etch primer must not be applied over old paintwork or body filler. Before painting it has to be overcoated with a secondary primer (an acrylic filler primer is recommended). Apply the secondary primer strictly within 20-30 minutes after the acid etch primer.
1K epoxy primer for spot repairs
Primary primer
For treating metal surfaces that are free of corrosion. It can also be applied over old paintwork and body filler. It suits repairs of damaged areas where part of the old paintwork is still left on the surface to be primed. It has excellent adhesion, is very tough, protects well against corrosion and gives a reliable base for the topcoats.
1K zinc rich primer
Primary primer
For priming ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces that are free of corrosion. It is the material of choice when repairing damage to a zinc coating. The zinc content gives body panels additional cathodic protection. The film is electrically conductive, so the primer can be used to protect seams joined by spot welding.
Transparent plastic primer.

Primary primer for plastic
For preparing the exterior plastic parts of a car for painting. It considerably improves the adhesion of paints to plastics. Flexible, fast drying. Any primer or paint can be applied over it.
1K acrylic filler primer
Secondary primer
A good choice over an acid etch primer. It can be applied in a thick coat, sands easily, hides defects in the substrate and gives a perfectly smooth surface. Applied thickly, it builds a resilient underlayer that reduces the risk of stone chips in the paint. It can be used as a primary primer on plastic, but its main job is that of a secondary primer.
Grey plastic primer
Secondary primer for plastic
It can be used both as a primary primer on plastic and as a secondary primer in combination with the KU-6000 adhesion activator. Its main use is to create a surface that is uniform in color and texture before the paint is applied, metallics in particular.
