We are often asked how to paint part of a car body panel so that the transition from the old finish to the new one stays invisible. In answer to those questions we have put together step-by-step instructions.
Step by step:
1. Using a fan deck of color swatches, choose the KUDO® automotive repair paint in the color you need. The actual color of the paint can be seen on the can, under the cap.
2. Clean the surface of dirt and degrease it thoroughly. The best tools for this are the KUDO® silicone remover KU-9100 and a clean cloth.
4. Once the primer is fully dry, scuff-sand the intended blend area until dull and then degrease it with the KUDO® silicone remover KU-9100.
5. Non-metallic paint: Apply the 1K alkyd automotive repair paint KU-4XXX in 2-3 even coats with 10-15 minutes of flash-off between coats.
Metallic paint: Apply the 1K metallic automotive repair paint KU-4XXXX in 2-3 even coats with 10-15 minutes of flash-off between coats. Once the paint has dried, apply the 1K automotive varnish KU-9010.
6. Without waiting for the fresh coating to cure, apply a thin coat of the spot blender to the blend area immediately after painting. Do not flood the product on. An automotive paint is fully dry in 24 hours at 20°C. On metallic paints the spot blender is applied over the varnish.
Note! When you have finished, turn the can upside down and spray until nothing more comes out, so that the spray tip does not clog.
