We are often asked how to prepare a car body panel for painting properly. In answer to those questions we have put together step-by-step instructions.
Note! If you are going to paint a new body panel, the "transport primer" has to be removed from it first.
Step by step:
1. Clean the surface of dirt and degrease it thoroughly. The best tools for this are the KUDO® silicone remover KU-9100 and a clean cloth.
3. Apply the KUDO® 1K acrylic filler primer KU-22xx. From a distance of 25-30 cm apply two even coats of primer with 5-10 minutes of flash-off between coats. Full drying takes 1.5 hours at 20°C (or 30 minutes at 60°C).
4. Once the primer has dried, the surface can be sanded. Use P400-P500 paper for dry sanding and P800-P1000 for wet sanding. After sanding and before painting, remember to degrease the surface with the KUDO® silicone remover KU-9100. Other solvents are not recommended.
Important! A surface coated with the KUDO® 1K acrylic filler primer KU-22xx can be topcoated with any type of paint.
Note! When you have finished, turn the can upside down and spray until nothing more comes out, so that the spray tip does not clog.
